In “Jeremy Bown” the Hogan-beg singing, “Where hae ye been my canny… his gang.” I believe I saw that in print way back (a traditional song/chant/chantey) but with no attribution. Assuming it was in the “Common knowledge Department”, I quoted it verbatim except to change the name from “Bower” to “Angus”, for the story. (And I made up a new tune for it every time I told the story.) I’d be delighted to hear more about the “original” if anyone knows it. -Gordon 8/27/2026
